Blood Orange Margarita

This is a recipe which I found in FOOD&WINE, created by Chef Dean Fearing. If you don't want to go to the 'fuss' of making up your own mix, but want the drama of blood oranges, you can add blood orange juice to your favorite margarita mix. (Since it is very easy to make your own, I prefer to make it all from scratch).

  • Spread a small mound of salt on a small plate. Moisten the outer rim of 12 glasses with the orange wedge, then dip the rims into the salt to lightly coat.
  • Add ice to the pitcher and stir well, then strain into the prepared glasses. (I add crushed ice to the glasses as well)
Garnish each margarita with a blood orange slice and a sage sprig and serve.
